The day started like any other day, really. I woke up warm and curled up in my doggie bed at the foot of my parents bed and had I know just how wild it would get I might not have left it.

The morning was like any other and swooshed by like a blurry toy. Eat, walk, bark at my friend the mail carrier. The usual. When all of a sudden I squirrel shot across the driveway and down the street!

Now, I might be small but I’m fast and one great guard dog. If I see something that needs investigating, I do and with a strong nose! So as any curious pup would do, I leaped into action and followed my fluffy tail new friend down the driveway, onto the sidewalk and down, down, down the street.

Finally came to a stop. Panting and out of breath, I looked around and my heart sank to my tummy. Where was I?

Wandering for what was likely several minutes but felt like hours, I started to really worry. There were lots cars moving up and down the street. People that I didn’t recognize were staring at me and I started to shake. Still I headed back in the direction that I thought was home. As I crossed the street, a car honked loudly at me and I jumped back onto the sidewalk.

Just as I was giving up a white car pulled over and a woman go out of the car. She called to me warmly and asked if I was lost. With my tail between my legs, I walked timidly over to her and let her know that yes, I was lost.

My new friend called my mom and they arranged to meet.

When I finally got home I was exhausted and grateful for my delicious doggy dinner. With my favorite stuffed toy by my side and a full tummy, I curled up in my warm bed and thought “It sure was a long day and I can’t wait to for tomorrow’s adventure!”
